The Director of Accounting and Finance is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all finance and accounting operations across multiple entities. This position ensures the integrity of financial reporting, strengthens internal controls, and aligns financial practices with organizational goals. The Director will lead the Accounting, Finance, and Grower Accounting functions and serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team.
Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management

Lead a team including a Controller, Grower Accounting Manager, Sr. FP&A Analyst, and additional indirect reports.

Provide executive‑level leadership, including hiring, developing, mentoring, and succession planning to build a high‑performing finance organization.

Partner with senior leadership to evaluate performance, provide insights on key drivers, and support data‑driven decision‑making.
Financial Reporting & Compliance

Oversee financial reporting for 12+ entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.

Review monthly financial statements prepared by the Controller and present findings to the CFO.

Manage the annual independent CPA review/audit process.

Coordinate year‑end tax planning and collaborate with external CPA firms on tax return preparation.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategic Planning

Lead the annual budgeting process with monthly review and variance analysis.

Oversee and refine forecasting and long‑range planning processes, including scenario modeling and strategic recommendations.

Provide leadership with timely variance analysis and insights to guide resource allocation and business strategy.

Support the CFO on special projects, including strategic initiatives and organizational planning.
Operational & Cross‑Functional Collaboration

Work closely with leaders across departments to support operational success and financial alignment.

Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, offering financial perspective on opportunities, risks, and strategic initiatives.

Perform additional duties as needed to support organizational growth, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or MBA strongly preferred.

Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Experience overseeing complex, multi‑entity, and multi‑departmental operations.

Deep knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, tax compliance, and regulatory requirements.

Proven ability to establish and strengthen internal controls.

Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.

Demonstrated leadership ability with experience building and mentoring high‑performing teams.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/accounting systems; experience with system implementations or process automation preferred.

Strong organizational and project management skills, with experience leading large‑scale accounting operations.
